Seaton firefighters give out some important advice

Members of Seaton fire crew were busy issuing life-saving advice to the public when they attended the recent Lions Club street fayre on the seafront.

They were at the popular event to promote their free home fire safety visits, give advice and demonstrate some of the equipment they use during their work.

In addition, the crew raffled a mountain bike, which was supplied by Soanes Cycles, of Colyton, and, thanks to generous support from the public, they raised £135 for the firefighters’ charity.

The lucky winner was local boat builder Paul Mears.

After the fayre, Seaton fire chief Mike Markham told the Herald: “I would like to thank the public for their continued support for Seaton fire station and the wider members of the fire service. Without them, injured and sick firefighters would not have a place of refuge and support.

“I would also like to remind people of the importance of properly fitted and regular testing of smoke alarms. Anybody wanting a visit from our team can contact the fire safety department on 01392 872200.”
