Money gained from the construction of a hotel in Honiton could be used to create street art in the town.

Section 106 cash contributed by developers behind the new Premier Inn, in Turks Head Lane, amounts to £5,000, it was announced at Honiton Town Council’s meeting on Monday, April 10.

It was suggested that murals could be created on the side of existing buildings to capture the culture of Honiton.

Speaking at the meeting, East Devon district councillor John O’Leary expressed his support for the idea.

He said: “It would also be quite nice to see something that shows what happens in Honiton.”
