Small number to receive fixed payments from South West Water, in line with the company’s customer promise.

A small number of householders in Honiton are to be compensated by South West Water - because their supplies were cut off for longer than anticipated during recent roadworks.

Ray Griffin, of Dowell Street, is among those set to receive a fixed payment.

His water was off from 8am to 11.30pm on Sunday, February 3, and from 8am to 9.15pm the following day.

Workmen visited his home to reconnect the supply after he complained.

South West Water has since also sent a plumber to his house, at their expense, to check his toilet cistern.

Mr Griffin said he, initially, had trouble getting through to anyone at South West Water but is now more than happy with the service he received.

A spokeswoman for the water company told the Midweek Herald: “Where restoration of supplies takes longer than anticipated during the planned works, we automatically compensate customers in line with our customer promise.

“We apologise to residents inconvenienced while we complete improvements to the water network in Honiton.”

The 3.5million scheme is expected to be complete by the end of next month.
