More than a dozen colourful floats paraded down Honiton's high street in front of hundreds of spectators at the weekend.

The carnival returned to the town with a bang of bright lights and music on Saturday evening (October 28).

This year’s event has been hailed as great night by organisers, who have thanked Honiton’s community for donating generously towards the event.

Steering group member Helen Turner said: “There was lots of people out on Saturday night because the weather was better.

“I am not quite sure how much we collected but there was a lot of coins in the buckets.

“It was a really good night - everyone was in good spirits.

“It was the perfect way to cap off East Devon’s carnival circuit.”

Helen, group scout leader for Honiton, was delighted after her troop won ‘best dressed collectors’ on the night.

The judging was carried out by Honiton mayor John Zarczynski.

Helen added: “We also won the cup in our category so it was a double celebration - we were well chuffed!

“A lot of the children had hand made their costumes so it was great to see their efforts rewarded.”
