WITH the news that Woolworths in Honiton is to close on December 27, frozen food chain Iceland has confirmed it wants to return to the town.

WITH the news that Woolworths in Honiton is to close on December 27, frozen food chain Iceland has confirmed it wants to return to the town.When Iceland pulled out of Lace Walk as part of a deal with Marks and Spencer three years ago, the company pledged to try and return one day - if suitable premises could be found.Loyal customers were threatening to stage a protest, calling for Iceland to stay, at the time.As soon as it was announced that Woolworths, also in Lace Walk, was to close, your Herald got in touch and pointed out suitable premises were imminently about to become available.A spokesperson for Iceland said in an official statement: "At this stage negotiations are still in progress, therefore we are unable to give details."However, please contact us in the New Year and we will be able to clarify the position."Woolworths in Seaton is to close on December 30.
