SOME residents in Honiton believe there is no hope of the town's Woolworths store avoiding the axe.

They are calling for frozen food chain Iceland to return to the town and lease Woolworths' store, in Lace Walk.

Iceland pulled out of Honiton as part of a nationwide deal with Marks & Spencer, but told the Herald at the time that they would consider opening a new outlet in the town - if suitable premises could be found.

Honiton resident Tony Simpson said: "The buzz is that Iceland have made an approach to the building's owner.
