Son, 25, in court.

A man has appeared in court charged with harassing his family for money in Honiton.

Matthew Lee Stamp, from Langford Lane, in Taunton, appeared at Central Devon Magistrates’ Court, Exeter, to face allegations of harassment.

It is alleged that between October 31 and November 22, the 25-year-old turned up at his parents’ address in Honiton and harassed his father for money.

Gareth Owen, defending, said : “There were no threats or criminal damage made to get any money.”

In addition to the harassment offence, Stamp also faced allegations relating to the theft of two packs of bacon worth 10 from the Iceland store in Exeter on November 28.

Stamp was stopped at the door of the store where the bacon was taken from him.

Mr Owen said: “He has not got a great history of shoplifting and is not doing it on a regular basis.”

Stamp has been remanded in custody until a hearing on Wednesday, December 29, when both offences will be dealt with.
