The Kilmington man who was serioulsy hurt when he fell from Lyme Regis seafront is out of hospital and recovering at home

A KILMINGTON man who suffered serious injuries after falling from a sea wall is on the mend.

Tom Gooding, 22, slipped as he walked along the Marine Parade at Lyme Regis and fell between beach huts below, landing on his head.

He was flown to Derriford Hospital with suspected head and neck injuries and underwent treatment in intensive care.

This week he was well enough to return home – sore but without any lasting damage.

His mother Helen told The Herald he had several broken ribs and a broken nose and was feeling very stiff, but fortunately nothing worse.

Mr Gooding, who works at Lyme Bay Winery, in Shute, was on the seafront with two friends when the accident happened at around 10.30pm on Friday October 22.

A large section of the Marine Parade is currently closed off to the public due to building work on the shelters.

His sister Claire, 23, said: “From what I’ve heard from his friends he was avoiding the building works and was walking along the side and slipped between the beach hut and the wall, and landed badly.”
