Injured pensioner thought to be ‘hit and run’ victim

A35 closed for several hours after seriously injured man found at Chideock

An elderly man was seriously injured in an apparent hit and run collision on the A35 near Chideock in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday).

He was found at around 4.45am and police closed the road for much of the day while investigations took place.

Officers believe the man’s injuries were the result of being in collision with a motor vehicle which left the scene shortly afterwards.

Police are urging anyone with information to call 101.

The injured man was taken to hospital. His condition is currently not known.
