East Devon MP Hugo Swire has hit out at the Government's refusal to issue licences to cull badgers.He today joined a rally in Parliament with the NFU and cattle farmers from around the country.Mr Swire said: "This decision is shameful and unacceptable. This inept government policy is undermining our cattle farmers, particularly small family livestock farmers in the West Country. "The Government has been dithering over bovine TB for 10 years, and during that time the number of infected cattle slaughtered every year has risen seven-fold. The problem is projected to cost the taxpayer approximately £300 million by 2012/13. "I simply do not believe that Hillary Benn has made his decision based on the information available to him. Our farmers can only suffer from this is a political decision.
