I feel I must respond to your recent story about the loss of a bus service at Dunkeswell.
It makes my blood boil when a person loses access to a car, then says they cannot get around for the lack of bus services serving the local village.
Since 2004, we have lost the postbus and the weekly service to Exeter and, yes, we did have a Sunday service, 20A, from 1997, from Easter until the end of September, to Sidmouth that lasted for about three years.
It amazes me that car drivers and their passengers see buses and coaches as a nuisance until they need us.
As a former coach driver until health reasons made me stop, and a coach enthusiast for over 50 years, the car will never replace the bus.
