Honiton-based scheme aids cerebral palsy sufferer.

AN eight-year-old boy with cerebral palsy has become the 26th recipient of a powered mobility aid from a Honiton-based charity.

Jamie Vickery was presented with an electric wheelchair by Carol Gilson, who founded the Joe Gilson Mobility Scheme in memory of her late husband.

The gift was made possible thanks to invaluable help from Neil Hurlock, manager of TRIP Community Transport Association, and the kindness of Sue Swindale, who donated the wheelchair to the scheme in memory of her late mother.

“Thank you, Neil and Sue,” said Carol. “And thank you to all the people who have donated items to the scheme since its inception.”

Carol now has a bath lift and a Strider mobility scooter to give away to deserving recipients.

If you would like to nominate someone to receive one or both of the items, write to Belinda Bennett, Editor, Midweek Herald, Fair Oak Close, Exeter Airport Business Park, Clyst Honiton EX5 2UL.
