Jazz Jurassica has teamed up with Lyme Bay Radio to bring its May festival to an even wider audience.
The four day festival in Lyme Regis will go ahead over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend making it one of the first festivals of the summer.
Lyme Bay Radio will anchor its weekend programming from the festival, taking a live feed from its two stages, at Marine Theatre and Theatre Square.
Julie Sheppard, the festival’s director, said, “It’s an obvious match. Lyme Bay Radio plays music. And so do we. They’ll add something extra, going behind the scenes to interview performers and giving longer airplay to an artist’s work. Listeners at home will be able to enjoy that special festival vibe.”
Festival coverage will start on Friday, May 28 when a seventeen piece Latin orchestra opens this year’s festival with an explosive celebration of Afro-Cuban music.
Both Jazz Jurassica and Lyme Bay Radio are run as not-for-profit community ventures and manned by volunteers.
Station manager Ashley Kellett said: “All the team are looking forward to finally have some live music back in our town. We can’t wait to be part of this special weekend. We’re very excited as it’ll be our first major outside broadcasting event and hope there’ll be many more to follow.”
