A ‘Jiving for the Jungle’ evening at Lyme Town Mill raised £1,200 for refugees in Calais.
Added to money raised from two street collections and other donations, it brought the total to around £3,500.
Organiser Lucy Campbell, who is one of a group currently helping the refugees in Calais, said she felt ‘really overwhelmed’, saying people had been very generous and shown that they really do care.
The event cost £5 to attend and involved a free glass of fizz and entertainment by local musicians.
