TESCO in Axminster now has a community champion to organise fundraising events and activities in the area.Kath Rabjohns, a full-time employee at the store, is spending 18 hours of her working week in the role. She is drawing up a list of events to help raise money for the Tesco Charity of the Year 2009 - Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. A spokesman for the supermarket said: "Kath is very excited about her new role and is really enjoying her work as a community champion."Kath said: "A lot of my time is spent organising events to raise money for the Tesco charity, but I am also here to help other charities and organisations fundraise, and help out wherever I can in the community."For example, over Easter, I'm going to be visiting nursing homes and serving Easter teas to residents and after Easter I will be working with local schools on healthy eating projects."I am also working with the local police community support officer to organise an information day at the Tesco store for customers. The role is very rewarding and a wonderful opportunity to meet people and get involved in the community."Kath recently arranged a donation of �1,000 to Axminster Community Primary School to support its sponsored run and provide medals for those taking part. Eggs will also be donated as prizes.l There will be a fun day in the store with activities for children, ranging from Easter bonnet competition to face-painting.l On the same day, seven male employees will take part in a sponsored leg wax.
