A GROUP of children discovered a spectacular catch when fishing in the waters of Sidmouth.
Kane Packer along with a group of friends, which included Bradley Jones, found a conger eel two weeks ago when they were out fishing down by Sidmouth’s sea front near Sidmouth Lifeboat Station. The 13-year-old said: “It was quite cool. It was just there in the water. It is quite unusual to find them. I thought it was a river eel.”
Kane, who has been fishing with his friends throughout the summer, believes the conger eel weighed about 24 pounds. All the boys are members of a local fishing club in Sidmouth. Kane added: “I’m not sure really what I thought when I found it. I just thought it was weird.”
