Axe Valley pupils rise to cake-making challenge

MAKING and marketing muffins was the tasty challenge for youngsters at Axe Valley Community College.

Pupils from primary school across the area were invited to take part in the business and enterprise project.

Their brief was to work as a company in teams of six to design, make, package and market a muffin product which could be used to help promote a charity of their choice.

Youngsters from Kilmington, Axminster, Colyton, Membury, Shute and Chardstock primary schools took part and their muffins were tasted by various people at the college.

Judges then named a winner based on the whole concept of the muffin.

Top team were Kilmington Primary with their company name of Kilm Kakes.

The combined team of Colyton and Membury primaries – called Munching Muffins - were the runners up.

Business and Enterprise Coordinator Bridget Bennett said : “We all had a really enjoyable day and the students really impressed us with their good ideas.”
