KILMINGTON Baptist Church was badly damaged following a fire early this morning.
The church, in Shute Road, was well alight when crews from Seaton, Honiton Exmouth and Exeter attended at around midnight.
Firefighters struggled to tackle the fire because of the snowfall and Incident Commander Tike called for back up before 1am.
Up until 2am, most of the roof and first floor was still alight and was only brought under control half an hour later.
Three fire engines and the Incident Command Vehicle remained at the scene after 4.15am, while the rest of the crews left.
Nearly three quarters of the roof and almost a third of the ground floor have been severely damaged by fire.
