New exhibition at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery celebrates the town’s lace making heritage.

Honiton’s lace making heritage is the focus of a new exhibition in the town.

The intoLace exhibition at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery was officially launched on Saturday by the Mayor of Honiton, Councillor David Foster.

Andrea Stokes, who along with 25 local women created a lace-inspired net curtain installation covering the gallery’s windows, was also in attendance.

The event is part of a dual exhibition being held by the Thelma Hulbert Gallery and the Devon Guild of Craftsmen.

Councillor Foster said: “Once again this highlights what a credit the gallery is to the town, community of our county.”

The exhibition runs until Saturday, November 2.

During the exhibition experienced lace makers from Allhallows Museum will be based in the gallery demonstrating how the craft is still alive today.
