A modern twist was given to the ‘Strawberry Tea’ campaign.

Twenty-two ladies dressed to impress and enjoyed a glitz and glam afternoon to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care UK.

Debbie Galbraith, of Monkton, Honiton, hosted the ‘strawberry and champagne’ afternoon, a twist on the Strawberry Tea campaign currently being promoted by the charity.

The campaign encourages people to get together with friends and family, buy or bake cakes, add some strawberries, and then put the kettle on and enjoy a spot of afternoon tea.

“I had a cancer scare two months ago and Breast Cancer Care UK helped me through a tough time,” said Debbie.

“They were fantastic, so this is my way of paying them back.”

The event took on the theme of ‘Sex and the City’, with the ladies dressing their best for the occasion.

Local businesses and organisations also donated prizes for a raffle draw, which raised a total of £360 for the charity.

“Since I held the event, I’ve heard nothing but good things about it from the girls who attended,” Debbie said.

“I’m definitely going to make this an annual thing, and here’s to raising much more for Breast Cancer Care UK in the years to come.”
