Lawrence’s life after Arabia
Book aims to establish the truth about enigmatic war hero’s untimely death.
A book about the life of one of the most charismatic leaders to emerge from the Great War has been republished in paperback, its Broadhembury author has revealed.
Andrew R B Simpson, who writes for a hobby, received widespread acclaim when the hardback of Another Life: Lawrence After Arabia was published in 2008.
Originally from Dorset, Mr Simpson, 59, developed an interest in the enigmatic T E Lawrence when events were held to mark the 50th anniversary of the war hero’s death in 1985.
He then spent more than 20 years researching lesser known facts about the man who won global recognition for leading the Allied offensive during the Arab revolt that saw the Turks defeated.
And, importantly, he set out to establish, once and for all, the truth about Lawrence’s untimely death.
Mr Simpson, who has a degree in history and is a member of the T E Lawrence Society, interviewed those who knew him best and looked into his later life, his service in the RAF and the Tank Corps as a mere ranker, as well as his literary efforts and friendships.
