A RESIDENT at the Stanhope Abbeyfield, in Honiton, celebrated his 50th anniversary of being a licensed lay reader recently.
John Lovell has officiated at many churches in the area, mainly at Sheldon, Luppitt, Dunkeswell and Monkton.
For many years he has also organised a monthly service at the Abbeyfield House.
On this occasion the St Paul's Team curate, the Reverend Karen Spray, led a service of thanksgiving and celebration.
At the service John explained how his involvement with the church developed.
He said he was delighted with the support and good wishes he had received from so many good friends.
