HONITON Royal British Legion Club has come a long way since its days as a hut!

HONITON Royal British Legion Club has come a long way since its days as a hut!The building, in Dowell Street, has benefited from additional facilities and refurbishment work in recent years, but was re-built from scratch in 1966.Founded in 1948, the club currently has around 800 members. Many of them were present last Sunday when a commemorative plaque was unveiled to mark the club's 60th anniversary during a day of celebrations.The building was extended in 1975 to provide a large hall with a stage. Later a skittle alley was added.A new bar, lounge and improved kitchen facilities followed.A branch of the Royal British Legion has been active in Honiton since 1921. The women's section was established in 1943.
