Reference the article in last week's Midweek Herald about Lidl - Honiton needs both Lidl and Aldi, to provide some competition in the town. The concerns expressed by some councillors that the loss of the BP garage would be astronomical for the town are nonsense (and do they know something we don't about losing the Tesco garage?).Tesco is far better placed where it is with its garage and free flowing traffic. With Lidl and Aldi in the town, the argument for keeping Tesco where it is, with its garage, rather than relocating, is stronger than ever. There are many towns around with only one garage, Sidmouth, Seaton and Portishead, which is twice the size of Honiton. None of those towns have a problem, so why should Honiton? There is no competition now between the three garages we have. They all stick to the same prices for their fuel - so the reduction to two or even one will make no difference.Mr & Mrs EdmondsCypress CloseHoniton
