Seafront walkers report a “man in difficulty” in the water off Lyme Regis beach
Lyme Regis lifeboat was launched early yesterday (Wednesday) after walkers on Marine Parade reported a swimmer in difficulty in the Cobb Gate area.
On arrival the crew found that one swimmer had reached shore safely. A second swimmer was still in the water, but not in difficulty, and the lifeboat stood by while he reached the beach.
A coastguard spokesman said: “Once on scene it was discovered that the swimmer was a regular who was well equipped and not in danger, although it did not appear that way from the shore.”
