Lyme’s tiny RNLI gift shop is the second most successful in the country
Volunteers who have helped the tiny RNLI gift shop at Lyme Regis to become the second most successful in the country celebrated at a Christmas lunch yesterday (Tuesday).
And they heard statistics which illustrated the success story from volunteer shop manager Brian Cursley.
He told them more than 50,000 individual items had been sold during the year, takings had topped 160,000 and 25,000 people had popped into the shop to keep the till busy.
The harbourside shop, next to the lifeboat station at The Cobb, is second only to the RNLI’s operation in Whitby, which also includes a museum.
Mr Cursley thanked almost 40 volunteers for their efforts during the year at the lunch at the Hunters Lodge Inn, Raymond’s Hill.
