Lyme crew member Tim Edwards joins the charity’s Flood Rescue Team (FRT)on standby in Somerset
A Lyme Regis lifeboat volunteers is amongst specially trained RNLI crew members deployed to a major flood risk area of Somerset today (Thursday)
Tim Edwards joined the charity’s Flood Rescue Team (FRT), which has been sent to Bridgwater where they are standing by amid fears that that the low lying area could flood at high tide.
The team of crew volunteers from across the south west, who are sponsored by Toolstation, Britain’s leading tool supply company, are fully trained for flood rescue.
The team departed from the charity’s base in Saltash, Cornwall at 9.30am this morning, and are heading to Bridgwater with pre-prepared flood rescue kit, including a D-class inshore lifeboat and a smaller inshore rescue boat as used by RNLI lifeguards.
They are being joined by colleagues from around the charity’s headquarters in Poole, Dorset.
