AXMINSTER and District Lions Club are celebrating their Ruby charter anniversary in the Guildhall on Saturday, April 18.The club thanks residents and local businesses who have supported them for 40 years - including Santa's sleigh, Christmas hampers, Easter eggs, tombolas, wheelbarrow raffles and various other fundraising events.Members believes they may be the only club in the word to have a banner woven in Axminster carpet - their pride and joy, which represents three generations of the Dutfields family with Lions. To mark the occasion, the garden opposite the Guildhall will be planted with the Lion's emblem. Current president Jackie Swarbrick-Pring keeps the link with the past - as her father was the Charter President of the club 40 years ago.Guests will include past and present members. Past members interested in attending should call Jamie on (01297) 35059/ 07775583538 or Jackie on 01297 32163 / 07885320704.To join or find out more contact Jackie or Secretary Dave on (01297) 551414.
