THE vacancy created on Honiton Town Council when Ken Hopkins resigned could be filled by noon today. Only one candidate, Peter Fleming, has been nominated for the post and, unless he withdraws by noon today (Wednesday), he will automatically be elected as the town's newest councillor. The deadline for nominations was Friday last week and, since only one candidate has stepped forward, there will be no by-election. Notices have been placed around the town.
