Prime Minister Theresa May’s resignation ‘could well be on the cards’, Devon MP Neil Parish has said.

Following rumours that the PM had resigned, Mr Parish spoke to Herald reporters at the East Devon election count in Honiton earlier today (Friday).

He said: “In today’s news we do get hoaxes so one has to be careful when quoting on a news piece and it is most unfortunate when these things happen.

“I suspect the Prime Minster is going to give more time to consider the results and her position, so I was slightly surprised in the first instance that she would resign quite so quickly but I image it could well be on the cards, but she will wait to see the final results and where the party stands.”
