Local support continues for Honiton food bank

Struggling families given a helping hand this Christmas.

The generosity of the local community continues as donations pour in to help Honiton’s food bank.
The King’s Centre Food Bank was presented with £250 worth of food items by Honiton Round Table last Friday.
“This is what we are all about and this is what we do,” said Alistair Britchford, of Honiton Round Table, who presented the donation to King’s Centre Food Bank co-ordinator Teresa Hawkes.
The money for the food donations was raised from the Round Table’s charitable funds as well as from Christmas float collections and other activities.

Honiton Round Table is an organisation for men to meet and socialise, try out new activities, and give something back to the local community by helping raise money for charity. For more information about the group visit its Facebook page.
The food bank was also presented with a hamper of food by Carol Gilson, the founder of the Joe Gilson Mobility Scheme.

Mrs Gilson gives away a luxury hamper, from Graham Symes of Ringtons, every year to a deserving individual but this year wanted to use it to help even more people this Christmas that are in need.
She said: “Teresa and the food bank do a marvellous job for the community. I can’t praise them enough. It is all about working together to help people.”
There are several collection points for food donations dotted around the town at Tesco, The Co-operative, Honiton Surgery, Honiton Baptist Church, Natwest, HSBC, and St Paul’s Church.
