Lorry fire at Axminster

Vehicle severely damaged.

A lorry was severely damaged following a fire at Axminster.

Firefighters from Axminster and Colyton were called to reports of the vehicle on fire in a lay-by on the B3261 at 3.06pm today (Tuesday).

On arrival firefighters found the flatbed lorry well alight.

Two sets of breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and small tools were used to extinguish the fire.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The lorry was severely damaged by fire and the cause was ascertained as accidental.”
