Lottery grant for pre-school

YOUNGSTERS at Dunkeswell Pre-School will soon be able to enjoy improved outdoor facilities - thanks to an £8,000 grant from the National Lottery's Awards for All.

YOUNGSTERS at Dunkeswell Pre-School will soon be able to enjoy improved outdoor facilities - thanks to an £8,000 grant from the National Lottery's Awards for All.The cash will go towards the purchase of a canopy, to provide children with shade from the sun and protection from rain.A soft safety surface will be laid and, to make it fun, will include a play road.Ride-on toys and a new play house almost complete the project.The finishing touch will be a raised garden area for the children to grow their own fruit and vegetables.Sheila Baker, the pre-school's chairperson, said it was hoped work would be carried out during the summer holiday."We are still fund-raising, but the parents and the community are so supportive."the pre-school has been going for 15 years now and recently achieved an outstanding OFSTED report."To be awarded that was phenomenal."Mrs Baker added: "There's a huge amount of respect for the pre-school in the village.
