But don’t forget to love others, too
In a local school the children are learning about ‘mindfulness’. Taking inspiration from some of the ancient religious traditions of the world, this practice teaches people to be more aware of oneself and the world and people around us – being ‘mindful’ of each moment. It’s how Jesus taught his followers to be – caring for those around us and for ourselves and being devoted to God. Recognising our own needs, hopes and dreams along with the needs of others.
When asked what the most important commandment was, Jesus replied: ‘Love God with all that you are and love your neighbour as yourself.” Part of our journey is to learn to love ourselves as God loves us, to make space to be with God that we may grow in faith and learn to love others. Lent is a good time opportunity to make time for that.
God loves you. Love others. Love yourself.
