A couple who transformed a crumbling Luppitt barn into a luxury self-catering property are celebrating after it scooped top prize at the Devon Tourism Awards.

The Milkshed, owned by Mark and Katie Hollyer, has undergone extensive work in the last few years and now provides spacious holiday accommodation a couple of miles outside of Honiton.

The property won silver in last year’s Devon Tourism Awards.

Katie said: “It is a dream come true - we have put our heart and soul into creating a wonderful holiday home in our lovely corner of Devon and it is fantastic to be recognised with this award.”

The couple have continued to update and enhance The Milkshed – recently, they have installed a wood-fired hot tub there.

Award judges described The Milkshed as ‘stunning with lots of unique features’.

Organiser and VisitDevon director Robin Barker added: “The delight we see each year from winners tells me that we are making a difference to Devon and to its number one industry.”
