Mass release of red balloons is planned at Lyme Regis seafront
A MASS balloon release will take place at Lyme Regis seafront tonight (Monday) as a tribute to the Red Arrow pilot who died at the weekend.
The crack RAF aerobatic team have been frequent visitors to Lyme Regis, helping to launch the town’s lifeboat week over many years.
Now a group of local residents are planning to hand out balloons from 6pm this evening, on the pebble beach, near the clock, before releasing them all around an hour later. There is no charge but people will be asked to make donations, with all the proceeds going to the Red Arrows.
It is hoped those attending will also wear something red for the tribute, which is being organised by Becca Overton, her sister Kelly Scott and mum Corinne Scott, with help from Karina Holman and her sister Kirsty Godfrey.
Just Flowers, of Seaton, are providing the helium for the balloons.
