Couple called for help after being cut off by the tide
TWO walkers had to be rescued after being cut off by the tide near Lyme Regis on Saturday.
Coastguards launched a lengthy rescue operation in poor weather conditions to reach the pair who had called for help on their mobile telephone.
They had left Lyme Regis earlier in the day and walked to beyond Charmouth before setting back only to find the tide had cut them off.
The Coastguards located them to the east of the resort at around 6.20pm and escorted them to safety. They did not need medical treatment.
