CAPTAIN’S LOG: Floating 15ft tree is brought to harbour after becoming a hazard to shipping
LYME Regis lifeboat were called into action today (Sunday) to “rescue” a tree.
In one of their more unusual operations the crew of The Pearl of Dorset salvaged the 15ft long piece of floating trunk, which was considered a hazard to shipping in Lyme Bay.
They unloaded it on the beach at Pokers Pool for collection and recycling.
The lifeboat was already at sea for a training exercise when Portland coastguards requested retrieval of the tree.
