Stranded beach walkers helped to safety
Two members of the volunteer crew of the Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat swam 100 yards to the shore yesterday (Tuesday June 25) to help a couple reported in difficulties on the beach after a woman suffered a fall.
The incident happened after the couple, from Leicester, had walked from West Bay to Seatown. After reports that the couple needed help coastguards requested the launch of the lifeboat at 1.27pm.
After reaching shore and establishing that medical treatment was not needed, the two crewmen – Murray Saunders and Dave Bisson - escorted the couple towards Eype where they were met by coastguards from West Bay
The lifeboat returned to Lyme Regis at 2.20pm
