Lyme lifeboat week on course to top 20,500
Thousands packed the resort to see one of the busiest programmes ever presented
RNLI chiefs are in buoyant mood after another hugely successful Lyme Regis and Charmouth lifeboat week.
The town was packed with visitors for one of the most action-packed programmes yet – featuring a host of spectacular events on land, sea and in the air.
Lyme Lifeboat Guild chairman Rob Michael said it was one of the busiest weeks they had ever presented and they were on course to match – if not top – last year’s total of 20,500 for RNLI funds.
Things got off to a flying start when thousands packed the resort to see another fabulous display by the Red Arrows.

Other major events during the week included a display by the Royal Navy Black Cats helicopter team and a demonstration of precision landing by the RAF Falcons parachute team who dropped in on Thursday.
Along with the ever popular tug ‘o war battle across the harbour entrance, and the bathtub race on Saturday – won by the Harbour Inn - there was an amazing new event this year called The Red Bull Harbour Reach in which wakeboarders jumped the north wall at the Cobb.
