Victim is thought to have suffered a heart attack while metal detecting
A 67-year-old Lyme Regis man collapsed and died on the cliff path, near Axmouth, yesterday (Thursday, September 15).
The victim, who has not been named, is thought to have suffered a heart attack while metal detecting in an area where a new path is being created, below Axe Cliff Golf Club, east of Seaton.
Medics declared him dead at the scene and a team of eight men from Beer Coastguard Unit was sent to recover the body at around 12.30pm.
Officer in charge, Terry Hoare said he had been in a remote section of the path where the terrain was very difficult.
