Deputy Mayor Michaela Ellis sent down the first wood to officially launch the new season at Lyme Regis Bowling Club.

Following the opening ceremony members played a mixed fours game against each other in generally bright sunshine.

After the match they all adjourned to the clubhouse for a generous buffet tea.

For a limited period, until May 29, new members will be offered a half price subscription for the 2016 season.

To find out more go along on a Wednesday evening, at 6pm, which is club night.

Officials say everyone is most welcome to go for a try out on the green.
