LYME Regis Gig Club is launching its second boat, Black Ven, on Sunday, August 2.
The gig, named after the fossil cliff to the east of Lyme, was built by boatbuilder Gail McGarva and assisted by Jeff Legge, Richard Capstick and Dave Govier, with support from staff and students at the Boatbuilding Academy.
Cermonies start at 12.30pm when Black Ven will officially be handed over to the club by Gail. Mayor Michaela Ellis will name the gig and Reverend Keith Vivian will bless it.
Club chairman Marcus Dixon said: "The building of Black Ven has been possible through the financial support of Lyme Regis Town Council, West Dorset District Council, Dorset County Council, Sports Relief and Awards for All.
"It's striking how the continued progress of Lyme Regis Gig Club is made by the dedication and commitment of its members, who with the committee, have formed teams to raise funds, plan the launch, and undertake a wide variety of tasks associated with running a successful club.
