Lyme Regis lifeboat call after military shell alert

Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat crew assisted coastguards in a search for what was thought to be a military shell near Golden Cap on Sunday (December 4).

The lifeboat was launched at 12.51pm and ferried two coastguards from Charmouth beach to St Gabriel’s Steps.

The ‘shell’ was eventually found to be a polystyrene buoy.

After recovering it, the lifeboat crew was stood down at 3.05pm.
