LYME Regis RNLI lifeboat and a coastguard helicopter were launched yesterday (Wednesday, September1) following reports six people had got caught in a rip current.
Crews, including members of Sidmouth Rescue, were called out to the western end of Sidmouth promenade at 5.10pm. But the six people, including a child, had already safely been recovered.
The lifeboat did a search of the area as a precaution and stood down at 5.50pm.
