I have suggested to Mr Rose, of Marks and Spencer, that he and Gordon Brown should visit some OAP clubs - not having the visit previously arranged. They would all wonder had happened to themselves. What a waste of money by M&S opening these Simply Food shops. Ours, in Honiton, is not the only one to be closed and it has only been open for two years. We have found the staff polite, helpful and friendly. We have pointed out that Mr Rose's loss could be the Co-op's gain. We also told him about our bus services. The trouble is he sits in a centrally-heated office, miles from the countryside and normal people. This also applies to Gordon Brown. If the shop closures go ahead, what is going to happen to Honiton? It's a lovely place, with so many little local shops. We are lucky to live here, but there are many drawbacks - if you do not have your own transport.L StoreyTremaine Close Honiton
