Magistrates consider imposing community order

A HONITON man pleaded guilty to assaulting a local woman when he appeared at Central Devon Magistrates' Court, in Exeter.

A HONITON man pleaded guilty to assaulting a local woman when he appeared at Central Devon Magistrates' Court, in Exeter.Robin Jon Broom, 26, of Buttery Road, made a late guilty plea to assault by beating against Maria Upton.The assault took place in Exeter on September 2 last year.Broom could face a community order when he returns for sentencing on January 26.Chairman of the bench, Barry Rendell-Jones, said the sentence would take into consideration punishment and rehabilitation. He said: "A bit of rehabilitation will enable you not to lash out in future.
