Police drop the case against an Axminster man who had been accused of holding up the Co-op store with a knife
A 26-year-old Axminster man has been cleared of taking part in an armed robbery in the town after police dropped the case.
Samuel Murphy, of South Street, was not present at Exeter Crown Court when the case was discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service.
He was accused of robbing the Co-Op store near his home in December but cleared after police turned their investigation towards other suspects.
The robbery was committed by a man armed with a knife who entered the shop at around 9pm on December 21 and stole a bottle of vodka and a quantity of cigarettes.
Police inquiries are continuing into the raid.
