The incident, which happened at 2.28am on Sunday, took place on the A3052 near Ware Cross, Uplyme.

A man has died after he was involved in an early-morning collision with a car.

The incident, which happened at 2.28am on Sunday, took place on the A3052 near Ware Cross, Uplyme.

A green BMW 323, driven by a 42-year-old man, was travelling along the A3052 from the Lyme Regis direction towards Rousdon in the vicinity of Ware Cross.

The BMW collided with a 29-year-old man who was walking along the road. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say both men are local to the area and that weather and road conditions were dry.

A force spokesman said: “Units from both Devon and Cornwall and Dorset Police attended and a specialist forensic investigation of the scene has taken place.

“Police from the serious collision investigation Team are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact them on 101 quoting log number 153, May 21 2017.

“We are particularly keen to trace the driver of a small van which was believed to have been in the area at the time of the collision.”
