Fire crews from Axminster, Colyton and Honiton were called following a collision in Shute earlier today (Tuesday).
The incident, on the A35, happened at 2.38pm and involved a heavy goods vehicle and a car, which left a man trapped inside the car.
Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the 40-year-old male, who was taken to hospital via air ambulance.
Firefighters then made the vehicles and roadway safe with a hose reel jet.
